Deleting your data
Last updated: 9 September 2026
This page explains how to remove any data autónomotools holds about you, and how much of it you can remove yourself without asking anybody. The full account of what is held and why is in the privacy policy. This is a practical guide.
Data we hold
Only what you have chosen to give: an account if you signed in, anything you posted with it, your email address if you joined the mailing list, and anything you sent through a form on the site. The privacy policy sets out what each of those covers and how long it is kept.
Figures you enter into a calculator are stored only if you choose to store them. Today the only such choice is the Save data on device switch, which keeps them in your own browser. Any tool that offers to remember your entries will say so and let you turn it off again.
What you can delete yourself, right now
These need no email, no password and no waiting:
- Anything saved on your device: turn the Save data on device switch off. That deletes what every calculator on this site has stored, immediately, not only the one in front of you.
- The mailing list: the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email from the list. It needs no account.
- Emails about replies to your comments: the link at the bottom of any one of them.
Those switch things off. They do not erase your account or what you posted, which is the next section.
Asking for the rest to be deleted
Write to pekka@pekka.net and say what you want deleted. "Delete everything you have about me" is a complete request, and so is naming one particular thing.
Write from the address the data is attached to if you can. That is the quickest way to show it is yours. If you cannot, we may need to establish that you are who you say you are first.
Requests are normally free of charge, and the law allows one month to answer (Art. 12(3) GDPR).
If you signed in with Google, Facebook or another provider
Removing this site's access at the provider does not delete what is already stored here. It stops future sign-ins, which is a different thing. To have the stored data deleted, write to the address above.
To do the provider's half as well:
- Facebook: Settings & privacy, then Settings, then Apps and websites
- Google: your Google Account, then Data & privacy, then Third-party apps and services
Deleting your account here removes the account and what is attached to it.
What deletion leaves behind
- If you only unsubscribe from the mailing list, the record that you subscribed and then left is kept, because the law requires us to be able to demonstrate both (Art. 7(1) GDPR). Ask for erasure instead and that goes too.
- Server logs and backups may hold a copy for a limited period before being overwritten in the ordinary course. Nothing is restored from them to bring deleted data back.
If you are not satisfied with how a request was handled, you can complain to the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, C/ Jorge Juan 6, 28001 Madrid, aepd.es.
